Ketan Patel, PhD, DDS

Dr. Patel is currently the Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Hospital Dentistry at North Memorial Health. He is the Physician Lead of Head and Neck Oncology and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at North Memorial Health.
He completed his dental school at the University of Birmingham in England. He subsequently completed his PhD at the University of Minnesota, with his thesis in molecular genetics of Head and Neck Cancers. He completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training at the University of Maryland including the world-famous Adam Cowley Shock-Trauma center. He subsequently completed two fellowships in Oral/Head and Neck Oncology and Microvascular Surgery at the University of Minnesota and another fellowship in Craniomaxillofacial Trauma and Reconstructive surgery.
He has been at North Memorial for almost 10 years and previously served as the Fellowship Director of the Oral/Head and Neck Oncology and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship program. He is board-certified in both Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Certificate of Added Qualification in Head and Neck Oncology and Reconstructive through the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
In 2020, he joined the University of Minnesota as an adjunct faculty and serves as the site director at North Memorial Hospital where the senior residents rotate all year.
Dr. Patel has authored several publications in various topics from head and neck cancer Surgery and Reconstructive Surgery, to molecular genetics of head and neck cancers and Sjogren’s syndrome. He also has contributed several chapters to multiple books considered the gold standard of our profession. He has lectured both nationally and internationally on several topics from benchtop research to sleep apnea, oncology, and microvascular reconstructive surgery.
He currently works at North Memorial Hospital while maintaining a private practice at Twin Cities Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
