Twin City Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons Jason E. Jenny, DDS, Michael J. Downie, DDS, MD and Christopher E. Koehn, DDS, practice a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise in dental implant and bone grafting procedures, corrective jaw surgery and wisdom tooth removal. Dr. Jenny, Dr. Downie and Dr. Koehn‘s staff is trained in assisting with I.V. sedation and general anesthesia within our state-of-the-art office setting.

Dental Implants

A natural tooth consists of a root and a crown. If you compare natural teeth to implant-supported replacement teeth, you’ll see they have the same basic parts. Both have a crown (the visible part used to chew food).

Wisdom Teeth

Third molars are commonly referred to as wisdom teeth. They are usually the last teeth to develop and are located in the back of your mouth, behind your second molars.

Tooth Extractions

You and Dr. Jenny, Dr. Downie or Dr. Koehn may determine that you need a tooth extraction for any number of reasons. Some teeth are extracted because they are severely decayed; others may have advanced periodontal disease, or have broken in a way that cannot be repaired.

Anesthesia

Several methods of anesthesia are available. The method of anesthesia that is chosen for or by a patient depends upon the nature of the surgical procedure and the patient's level of apprehension.

Jason E. Jenny, DDS

Dr. Jenny grew up in Shakopee, MN. He received his undergraduate degree from University of St. Thomas, followed by his dental degree at the University of Minnesota. He went on to complete an internship in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Minnesota. He then completed his Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency training at the University of Minnesota and Hennepin County Medical Center.

Michael J. Downie, DDS, MD

Dr. Downie was raised in Aberdeen, South Dakota. He attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD and graduated with a D.D.S. from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 1996. Dr. Downie received his M.D. from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 1999.

Christopher E. Koehn, DDS

Dr. Koehn grew up in Moville, Iowa. He received his undergraduate degree from Minnesota State University in 2004, and his D.D.S. degree from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 2008. He went on to complete an internship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Iowa in 2009. He then completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency training at the University of Cincinnati.
